A Clear Path from Early Years to A Level
At Trichardt School, we provide a coherent, progressive academic journey that grows with every student. Our curriculum is structured across four distinct phases — Foundation, Intermediate, Lower Secondary, and Higher Secondary — ensuring that every learner is appropriately challenged, well-supported, and thoroughly prepared for the next stage of their education. From building foundational literacy and numeracy in the early years to the international rigour of IGCSE and A Level qualifications, our programme is designed to nurture confident, capable, and purpose-driven young people.
Foundation Phase
Grade 000 – Grade 3 · Early Childhood & Primary Foundation
Phase Overview
The Foundation Phase provides a nurturing, enriched environment in which young learners develop essential literacy, numeracy, and life skills. Our English-medium instruction from the earliest years lays a strong academic foundation, while Portuguese connects students to their Mozambican context. Christian values and creative exploration are woven throughout every learning experience, fostering curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning from the very beginning.
Intermediate Phase
Grade 4 – Grade 6 · Broadening Knowledge & Building Independence
Phase Overview
The Intermediate Phase deepens academic engagement across an expanded range of subjects. Students build on their foundational skills while developing greater independence as learners. Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Technology are introduced, broadening each student's view of the world around them. French is added in Grade 6, preparing students for the multilingual demands of secondary education and beyond.
Lower Secondary Phase
Grade 7 – Grade 8 · Critical Thinking & Subject Depth
Phase Overview
The Lower Secondary Phase is a pivotal period of academic growth. Students engage with a rich, multi-disciplinary curriculum that strengthens analytical thinking and introduces global perspectives. Accounting and Economic & Management Sciences prepare students for the business and financial literacy they will need in higher education. This phase lays the essential groundwork for the rigour of the IGCSE programme.
